Bio
Evangelo Costadimas (b. 1958, Addis Abeba) - Also known as: Angelo, EC, Eva-chan
Born and raised in Ethiopia to Greek/Italian parents. I immigrated to Canada, at age 19, where I studied engineering and eventually worked as a telecoms engineer for more than two decades.
Since my teenage years, I nurtured a strong and compelling interest in art and photography which led me to establish my own art practice in the early 90s, while still working as an engineer. By 2006, my passion in art and photography overtook my interest in engineering. I went back to school to study art. In 2008 I obtained a Master of Fine Arts degree from RMIT thus formalising my participation in art making, in addition to getting professionally certified as an Art Curator by the Hong Kong Art School.
When a friend asked me if I could shoot a short film for him, I got bit by the filmmaking bug and jumped in, head first! Three years later I was teaching cinematography at a film school and working on films, videos and commercials.
I also derived immense satisfaction from teaching and worked for several years as a part-time lecturer for RMIT, Hong Kong Art School, PolyU (SPEED) and as an adjunct professor for SCAD University in Hong Kong.
Having studied and worked in a range of disciplines and having lived, worked or visited more than thirty countries, I now find myself fulfilled but somehow feel I am not quite done yet. What will the next endeavour entail?
I currently live in Japan with my wife Akiko and our two black cats Nero and Sera.
